Based on my own experience learning, teaching and tutoring maths, many learners have a mental gap between maths and real world. They have to use numbers and do sums without really getting the meaning – like learning words from a language without knowing what they mean. This causes huge problems in maths learning BUT the good news is that we can best fill in the gap with activities that are interactive, fun and engaging.

Fun Maths small group lessons build a deep understanding of numbers and operations. We work with rhythm, pattern, colour, physical objects, and a mix of learning and exploring that allows learning through the body, not just the eyes and ears, and through an active, interested mind.

These lessons are ideal for children who are struggling with any aspect of Maths in primary school – now is the time to fix the foundation. Once they are stuck into high school maths it becomes very difficult to mend the cracks. The methods we use are proven to work well for right-brained learners and those who learn well through movement and visuals.

The activities improve knowledge of maths facts such as number bonds and multiplication tables as learners become truly familiar with the numbers and patterns. Topics include addition and multiplication, as well as the division and fractions – two topics children most often struggle with. Geometry and problem solving are integrated throughout.

Even if your child is ‘getting by’ they will benefit hugely from a strengthening of concepts and developing a sense of wonder and enjoyment in maths, perhaps for the first time. While these lessons are born out of my own experience, ideas and passion, they are in line with what international researchers and educators have found about maths learning, and we will be using activities from great maths teachers around the world.
